Teltonika RUT200 industrial 4G router
The Teltonika RUT200 is a compact industrial 4G LTE router designed for dependable M2M and IoT connectivity. It combines a single SIM Cat 4 modem, two Ethernet ports, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and a metal enclosure. Because of its small footprint, it fits easily into control panels, kiosks, cabinets and other tight spaces.
Unlike many compact routers, the RUT200 includes the full Teltonika RutOS platform. As a result, you benefit from advanced networking, automation and remote-management features normally found on larger models.
Built for harsh environments
The RUT200 is engineered for industrial use rather than indoor home networking. It operates from –40°C to +75°C and uses an IP30-rated aluminium enclosure. This means it continues to perform in unheated cabinets, roadside housings, plant rooms and warehouses where conditions can be harsh.
Flexible installation options
The router accepts 9–30 V DC or passive PoE on LAN1. Passive injectors within the correct voltage range keep wiring simple. Because IEEE 802.3af/at is not supported, the unit must be powered by a passive source. This approach is often used in cabinets or enclosures where a single cable is preferred.
Connectivity and interfaces
The RUT200 features a 4G LTE Cat 4 modem with 3G and 2G fallback. This ensures stable connectivity and keeps devices online when local networks fluctuate.
It works well with standard SIMs and multi-network roaming IoT SIM cards, giving the router an extra level of resilience.
Ethernet and local access
The device includes two Ethernet ports. The first is a LAN port, and the second can operate as either LAN or WAN.
This means the RUT200 can be used as a stand-alone 4G router or as part of a failover setup that switches to LTE whenever the primary link is down.
Wi-Fi and digital I/O
The built-in 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n access point supports engineers during setup and servicing. It also helps small devices connect quickly at the installation site.
In addition, it provides one digital input and one open-collector output, making integration with relays, sensors or automation logic straightforward.
Security, VPN and remote access
Security is a core strength of the RUT200. RutOS includes a configurable firewall, NAT, IP and MAC filtering, plus user access control. These tools help protect remote systems and ensure that connected equipment remains secure.
Advanced VPN support
The router supports OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, GRE, L2TP, PPTP, SSTP, Stunnel, DMVPN and ZeroTier. Because all of these are included, the RUT200 can slot into almost any existing VPN environment. As a result, it suits both managed service providers and organisations with hybrid networks.
Remote management via RMS
Teltonika RMS makes long-term support easier. You can apply firmware updates, push configuration templates, access the WebUI remotely and build RMS VPN tunnels. Consequently, engineers save time and avoid unnecessary call-outs, especially for nationwide deployments.
Industrial protocol support
The RUT200 is also an effective industrial gateway. It supports several protocols used in automation, energy and utility systems.
- MODBUS TCP client and server for PLCs, controllers and sensors
- OPC UA client and server for modern SCADA and automation platforms
- MQTT for IoT telemetry and cloud services
- SNMP for network management systems
Because these protocols run natively on the router, no additional converters or hardware are required.
Typical applications
The RUT200 is used across many industries and project types. For example:
CCTV and security
Provides a stable uplink for IP cameras, NVRs, ANPR and access-control systems. Signal LEDs and diagnostics help with antenna placement, while VPN and RMS ensure secure access.
Building management and HVAC
Connects BMS controllers, energy meters and environmental sensors where fixed lines are not available. Industrial protocol support improves integration with existing systems.
Retail, POS and kiosks
Powers payment terminals, ticket machines, vending systems, kiosks and digital signage. When broadband fails, LTE failover keeps transactions running.
Industrial automation and utilities
Links PLCs, RTUs, water assets, solar equipment and EV charge points to central platforms. The wide temperature range and flexible power input make the router suitable for tough locations.
RUT200 in the Teltonika range
The RUT200 shares its compact form factor, CPU and memory with the RUT241. Both models use a single SIM slot and the same LTE Cat 4 modem, and both run the full RutOS interface.
For most UK and European installations, the RUT200 offers the required features at an excellent price. If you need more Ethernet ports, the Teltonika RUT901 is the next step. Where serial ports or GNSS are required, the RUT906 is the appropriate option.
Simple configuration workflow
Setup is straightforward:
- Insert the SIM card and power the router.
- Connect a laptop to a LAN port and browse to 192.168.1.1.
- Log in with the default admin/admin01 credentials and create a new password.
- Enter the APN or allow automatic detection.
- Adjust LAN, Wi-Fi and firewall settings.
- Configure VPNs or industrial protocols.
- Add the device to RMS for ongoing monitoring and support.
Because all RUT200 units use the same interface and menus, installers can follow a repeatable process. As a result, rollouts become faster and more consistent.
