IDG500 4G Router With Fixed IP SIM Card
The IDG500 provides a great solution for remote access and monitoring applications, but of course like all 4G routers, if you use a standard mobile network data SIM card you will be unable to remotely access the router, even using DDNS, becuase the mobile networks use carrier grade NAT. This means that the mobile network provides the router with a private IP address on their network sow the public IP address you think you have is the same public IP address and hundreds of other devices and you have no way of telling the mobile network to send all traffic to your router.
The solution of course is to use a Fixed IP SIM card with your IDG500 4G router.
Our standard Fixed IP SIM card solution comes with a public IP address, so you can just open up a web browser anywhere on the internet, type in the IP address and you will connect straight to the router. Once you can connect directly to the router you can use port forwarding to connect to the devices on the LAN.
The other type of fixed IP SIM card comes with a private IP address, which means in order to connect to the router you first need to connect your PC to the Fixed IP SIM network using a VPN. Your PC is now part of the private network and can therefore access the IP address so you can now view your router and connected devices. The benefit of using a fixed IP SIM card with a private IP address is that the IP address is not available on the public internet so improves security.
